The Waxhaws surrender demand
On May 29, 1780 Colonel Banaster Tarleton caught up to Colonel Abraham Buford and the 3rd Virginia Detachment in area along the border of North and South Carolina called the Waxhaws. This painting shows Tarleton’s messager demanding Burford surrender.

Biggin Church July 16-17, 1781
Realizing he could soon be surrounded, British Lt. Col. Coates loaded up a few supplies for his mobile force. He placed the rest inside the church and torched it in the middle of the night before escaping through the Wadboo Creek area to cross the Cooper River at the Strawberry Ferry. The ruins are near Moncks Corner, SC.
